Hey guys, just a quick update on the book: I’ve officially finished the second full read-through and edit!

Getting through the manuscript a second time took a fair bit of work, but the story is now in a solid place and ready for some fresh eyes. I’ve passed early copies to a small group of friends to get their honest feedback on the pacing, characters, and overall plot. At the same time, another friend who works as a teacher is proofreading and checking the grammar, hopefully, combing through my manuscript gives him a nice, relaxing break over the school holidays!

While I wait on feedback, I’m moving ahead with the visual side of things. I’ve reached out to Emily at Aether Illo to design the front cover. She does incredible fantasy and character art, so she’s a perfect fit for this project.

Emily actually did some fantastic work for my wedding last year. I asked her to create pet portraits in flower crowns for my seating plan, and she completely nailed them. Honestly, this post is just a great excuse to show those off and highlight how brilliant she is!

For now, it’s a bit of a waiting game while the feedback comes in and the initial cover concepts are put together. I’ll share another update and hopefully a look at the cover once things progress further.
