The Heart of the Blood Moon: The Third Edit

It’s been a hot minute, hasn’t it?

My last author-in-progress update was back on 3 August. Now, four months later, I’m back in the saddle after a (well-deserved!) break. In that time, I received developmental feedback on my latest draft, completed a full re-read, and annotated the story from start to finish.

My approach this time was a little different. I’m rather traditional, there’s nothing quite like pen and paper for jotting down notes, but transferring handwritten edits back into a digital draft gets boring fast. So, I asked my husband for my Christmas/birthday gift VERY early: a reMarkable tablet.

It’s been an absolute game changer. I get to make real-time edits with that natural pen-to-paper feel, without the usual transcription headache. Up next: going page by page through this third full edit to action all my notes. But one of my biggest challenges will now be deciphering my own handwriting!

As for the reader feedback? The consensus is that the story overall works, which is a huge relief (it’s always good to know your core concept isn’t total rubbish!). The character dynamics hit the mark, though I have a few notes to expand on world-building. Mostly positive (phew!).

My goal for this winter is simple: tackle these revisions, flesh out the world, and see where the story takes me next.

On a side note: book reviews will be back on the blog soon (plus the usual Wattpad shenanigans continue!). My reading diary is locked in: I’m working through the Throne of Glass series now and knocking out Crescent City next. Even though A Court of Splintered Harmony is already out, I’m exercising ultimate self-control to save it for January 2027 so I can read it straight into A Court of Forgotten Melody. Because apparently, juggling manuscript edits, work, and festive social commitments wasn’t quite complex enough!

Until next time, happy writing!
